  • Hello Yellow!
    All day
    2021.10.15-2021.10.16

The mental health and emotional wellbeing of our pupils has never been more important; for this reason, we will be marking World Mental Health day by taking part in the ‘Hello Yellow’ campaign for the mental health charity, Young Minds.

On Friday 8th October 2021, pupils will discuss wellbeing and the Young Minds charity during their afternoon reading session. This will be with author group teachers who are familiar with your child.

On Friday 15th October 2021, pupils and staff will be invited to wear a yellow item, e.g. a t-shirt, hair band, socks etc along with non-school uniform. The aim of the campaign is to show young people that they are not alone with their mental health and to raise vital funds for Young Minds.

We are asking for a voluntary donation of £1, to be made via Parent Pay, to support the Young Mind charity. Pupils do not have to take part if they do not wish to – in which case full school uniform should be worn.

We are aware that this is a week later than Hello Yellow day, which is on 8th October 2021. However, some year groups will be having school photographs taken on 8th October and we still wish to involve everyone in our Hello Yellow campaign.

I would like to take this opportunity to signpost you to the Young Minds website:

    https://www.youngminds.org.uk/

The website contains many fantastic resources that parents can use to support their child’s mental health. They also offer a helpline to parents and carers who are worried about their child or young person under the age of 25. This number can be called for free on 0808 802 5544 from Monday – Friday, 9:30am – 4:00pm.

As always, if you are at all concerned about your child’s mental health, please do not hesitate to get in touch for advice and support.

    Yours sincerely,

    Miss L Fernyhough

Assistant Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead
