Music Lessons and Extra Curricular Music Activities

At Churnet View Middle School we believe that Music is a powerful, unique form of communication that can change the way
pupils feel, think and act. Music brings together intellect and feeling and enables personal expression, reflection and emotional
development.

Learning to play an instrument is a lifelong gift and we believe that our specialist teachers will pass on to their students a love of
music that will enrich their lives forever.

Instrumental lessons are currently delivered by Music for Life and through private teachers who work within the department.
Our team of instrumental teachers work part time in school to deliver high quality learning, and achieve excellent results.
Our aims are:

• To enable students to achieve their full potential irrespective of age, ability and background.
• To ensure the Instrumental Service functions effectively and successfully and that it responds to the needs of students,
parents, staff and the wider community.
• To establish positive relationships between home and School by seeking to involve parents in all musical aspects of
School life.
• To set high standards and create a musical environment in which all are treated with understanding and respect.
If your child would like to start or to continue learning an instrument then please apply on-line direct to Music for Life. Details
can be found online at www.musicforlife.org.uk or call 01978 761162.

Extra Curricular
The Music Department runs a range of extra-curricular and curricular enhancing activities. Here is an example weekly timetable
from this current year. Please note this may change for 2020/21:
