Welcome to Churnet View Middle School

A community focused on improvement, opportunity and success

The learning environment at Churnet View Middle School is inclusive, nurturing and inspiring. Covering more than just the National Curriculum, we teach the skills and content necessary to prepare children for the learning journey ahead of them. We want our pupils’ potential to be limitless and their understanding of the world around them to be immense.

All who come to school here are valued and respected, and we expect everyone to contribute towards our school and local community. A pupil council and sports council meet together and decide upon important leadership matters and an effective prefect team – along with a head girl and boy – carry out essential roles and duties throughout the school day. Passionate teachers and staff work incredibly hard to ensure that learning is exciting and relevant, whilst at the same time making sure that safeguarding practices are strong and effective.

Our school farm, bees (yes bees!) and creative approaches towards teaching, help to engage pupils with learning in a variety of different ways. Breakout Days enrich what we teach and foster the acquisition of personal learning and thinking skills. We offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities both before and after school as we consider learning outside the classroom to be an essential part of developing leadership and life skills as well as boosting confidence and self-esteem.
