We are delighted that you are considering Churnet View Middle School for your child.
Below you will find information about applying for a place at our school, including applications for our normal Year 5 intake, in-year admissions and admission appeals.

Applying for a year 5 place
Applications for Year 5 places at Churnet View Middle School are made through Staffordshire County Council's coordinated admissions process.
You must apply through the local authority where your child lives, rather than the local authority in which your preferred school is located.

Admission Timeline – September 2027 Entry
1st November 2026
The application system opens. Parents and carers should apply through their home local authority.
15th January 2027
The closing date for applications. Please check the Staffordshire County Council admissions website for the updated published closing date.
16th April 2027
Parents and carers receive the outcome of their application on National Offer Day.
Making an application
The quickest and easiest way to apply is online. A link to the online system will be available from November 2026
You must apply through the local authority where your child lives not where your preferred schools are located.
What if I can’t apply online or have a problem?
If you experience difficulties with your application, you can:
- contact Staffordshire County Council's School Admissions and Transport service on 0300 111 8007; or
- contact the school office at cvm.office@ttlt.org.uk and we will be happy to help.
Paper application arrangements are also available for parents and carers who are unable to apply online.
In-year Admissions
An in-year admission is an application for a school place made during the school year or for admission to a year group other than the normal point of entry.
Parents and carers wishing to apply for an in-year place at Churnet View Middle School should contact the school office to obtain the appropriate application form.
Applications are considered according to the availability of places and our published Admission Arrangements. We will respond to in-year applications within a maximum of 15 school days.

Admission Appeals
Parents and carers who are refused a place at Churnet View Middle School have the right to appeal to an independent admission appeal panel.
Appeals are administered through Staffordshire County Council. Further information about making an appeal is available through Staffordshire County Council's School Admission Appeals service.
