Welcome to Churnet View Middle School. We understand that choosing the next school in your Child’s journey is an incredibly important decision for you and your family to make. We want you to see for yourselves how hard we work to give children, families and the community we serve, our very best endeavours. We are part of the Talentum Learning Trust consisting of Churnet View Middle School, Leek High School, and six local first schools. The Trust mission is, “To support and enable all of our learners to believe in themselves, to succeed in life and to aspire to be all that they can be.” We embrace this within all that we offer. What about the school’s mission/vision?

Set within the beautiful surroundings of the Staffordshire Moorlands, Churnet View Middle School provides an excellent education for children aged between 9 and 13 years old. Our catchment covers large areas of the rural Staffordshire and Derbyshire countryside and the northern area of the ancient market town of Leek. As a middle school we offer a balanced KS2 curriculum and primary type experience, for year 5 and 6 pupils, and a secondary KS3 curriculum for year 7 and 8. We have the capacity to educate over 500 pupils.

The extensive school grounds overlooking the impressive Roaches in the Staffordshire Peak District, are truly inspiring. Our school culture ensures that pupils are respectful, kind and aspirant. As a body of staff, we continually innovate, develop and set exceptionally high targets. We want our pupils to achieve the best outcomes that they are individually able to. In July 2023, we won a national award for our delivery of sport and PE, gaining the prestigious afPE quality mark, achieving it with distinction.

We believe that if a child is healthy, happy and safe, and they learn within a positive, inclusive environment, with a purposefully designed curriculum, taught by great teachers and staff, they will achieve excellence. To realise this, we ensure that our provisions are strong, and our evaluations and improvement processes are robust. Furthermore, we focus on collaborating with others and use pedagogical research and support from The Talentum Learning Trust to produce a learning environment, which instils a love for learning. 

Our staff are trained to foster the techniques necessary to build effective, positive and professional relationships with all our pupils. We ensure that our pupils receive the support they need, and that the best possible systems are in place to keep them safe and support their wellbeing. Whilst in our care, we take the time to get to know our pupils by exploring their interests, their personalities and their goals, before enabling them to become successful now and successful in the future.
