Breakout Days

Throughout the academic year, Churnet View hold a number of ‘breakout days’ where the students study an alternative curriculum.

Our teachers plan a whole day of exciting activities that are educational, fun and also give the learners, in vertical teaching groups, an opportunity to experience a broader understanding of the world we live in.

Events has focus on a range of themes, previously including:

• bringing the world to Churnet View (Countries, Culture and Religion);
• horticulture, herbs, the healing properties of plants (introducing innovative ways of attracting wildlife into the school gardens); and
• a WW1 school day (Costumes, Street Games, Propaganda in the Media, Rations/Calculations and PE Boot-camp.
• A careers and jobs event took place during this academic year.
